Horsham squash results:

 

                                                           Horsham Mens 1V v West Worthing IV - 14th Jan 2007

The team carried on their winning ways with a 4-1 win over west worthing IV at worthing. Alex Pett led the way 3-0, John Stanford won 9-0 9-0 9-0, Peter Powell 3-1, Ian Chance 3-2 and the only loss was Captain Nigel Barnett 1-3

Horsham V also played West Worthing V team at home on the same night  winning 4-1. Rob Norman 3-1 Greg Terry with a hard fought 3-2 

Richard Reynolds 3-0 Sott Goodair 3-0  Captian Mike Verney lost 0-3 making a sound result overall.

Horsham Ladies 1st team suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Weald 1st team this week.  Only Julie Stevens playing at no 2 managed a win 

while Linda Wilmott, Avril Wood, Mandy Barnett and Trish Law all lost to a much stronger side.

Horsham IV Top the whole of the Sussex league squash in points

 

The fourth team march on to their straight 21st win against local rivals Storrington, meaning they have gathered more than any other Sussex team by far. 

Led by Alex Pett who won 3-0 followed by John Sandford 3-2 Ian Chance 3-2 Greg terry 3-0 the only loss being Peter Powell

in a close fought match just losing in the fifth.

Horsham Ladies 1st v Dunnings Mill 3rd


Horsham Ladies 1st team finally defeated Dunnings Mill after a very hard fought contest. Trish Law got the away side off to a good start with a fine3-0 victory.  Mandy Barnett narrowly lost a very close game 9-7 in the fifth, followed by easy wins for Julie Stevens and Linda Willmott who both beat their opponents 3-0.  Avril Wood after coming back strongly was defeated to give Horsham a well deserved 3-2 victory.
                          

 

Great Squash Weekend 


                                                                  Horsham 3rd v Lancing 2nd away - 03/11/2006

In Division 4 Horsham Men's 3rd team had a good win away to Lancing 2nd team. Horsham got off to an excellent start with Allan Edwards and Mike Holding both winning their games 3-1. The next two matches on court were hard fought encounters that went to the final game. Duncan Davidson and Steve Bowers took a lead, but neither could not press home the advantage and both lost.  So the match result depended on the final game. With the pressure on, Chris Mason played at the top of his form to win easily and secure a 3-2 overall victory for Horsham. This moves the team up to second place in the division.

Horsham IV in division 5 went to a highly charged game at Corals in Brighton and went on to take there 20th straight win With Alex Pett, John Standford, Ian Chance, Les Lane all having straight wins , Peter Powell
lost 9-8 in the fifth making it a 4-1 win.

Horsham V in division six had a  great win through Greg Terry, Richard Reynolds, and two wonderful first time players Matt Gilkes coming back from
8-2 down in the fifth to win and Robert Grant having a straight 3-0 victory leaving Ian Chance playing no 1 had a hard fought battle against a young

Horsham 4th Team V Bognor  01/10/2006

 

 

 

Horsham were awarded a walkover giving them maximum points, they are now leading the division by 14 points after just three games.

After two good wins for Oli Pett and Phil Nightingale at one and two seeds Vince Lawrence, Rachel Willmott and James Norman all lost with close games meant the team lost 3-2

 

Horsham Mens 3rd v Storrington 1st team. 27/09/2006

At 2-2, with wins for Chris Mason and Michael Holding, it came down to the final match. Steve Bowers lost the first game, but fought back in a tight match to win the next three games and secure a 3-2 overall victory for Horsham.

This moves the team up to second place in the division.

 

HORSHAM 5th V Midhusrst 2nd

An outstanding result for the 5th team as Horsham's No 1 Allan Edwards won convincingly 3-0 to start Horsham off. 

Although Richard Reynolds and Scott Goodsir lost their matches, Scott unlucky with 7-9 in the 5th, Greg Terry at 1-1 stormed through to win 3-1, to level the match at 2-2. 

The final game with Horsham 5, No.2 Martin Plews. This was a nailbiter, going 2-2 and Martin just winning 9-7 in the 5th, to win the match 3-2.

Horsham Annual Closed Squash Tournament 1st May – 13th May 2006

The Annual tournament consisted of 6 Cup Events, including Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Men’s Doubles, Ladies Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Veterans (Ladies over 40 & Men over 45).

The Men’s Singles started with 32 seeded players, best of 5 games, with some very close and exciting games on the way to Saturday’s  Finals Day. The Final was between last year’s winner James Norman and England Under 19 No. 2, Oliver Pett, who won convincingly 3-0.

The Ladies Singles started with 15 players and the final ended up with England’s Under 19 No. 1, Rachel Willmott and her mother, Linda, who was beaten 3-0.  She was pleased to get some points though!

The Men’s Doubles Final was between Oliver and Alex Pett and Roger Hainsworth and Vince Lawrence, who had a hard 2 hour semi final and a 5 game against Oliver and Alex, but lost out 3-2.

The Ladies Doubles Final brought together Rachel and Linda Willmott against Julie Stevens and Jenny Brown, who lost 3-0 against the stronger opposition.

The Mixed Doubles Final was a closer affair between Roger Hainsworth and England’s Rachel Willmott and Bob Birch and Cathy Macmillan, losing eventually 3-1.

The Veterans had two exciting semis, both going to 5 games. Last year’s winner, Peter Sibley, losing 3-2 to Bob Birch. In the other semi, Kevin Taylor was 2-1 down and match point down, but came back to win 3-2 and was too strong, on the day, for Bob Birch in the final, winning 3-0.

Again, Horsham providing a very high standard of squash, on the best courts in Sussex.
